The Common Man

From one common man to another

A little while back our nation arose
And fought with their voice like never before
Out on the streets, attending our country
To rid it of its shameless woes
We saw the common man stand up to the mighty
Fighting six decades over money and power
Who made us believe that a nation of our dreams
Was on the anvil always…….always too far.
And they chewed. And they spewed.
The flesh of our poor nation
They designed a divide
Surrounding us on both sides
A Moron or a Murderer ?
You had to choose. You had to lose.
But when you took the streets against them both
To divide you, they again unite
And bought all the noises that you heard
To cloud the voices in your mind.
Some were taught. Others were told,
There’s nothing like a ruling common man
Some were bought. Others were sold,
To the unending legacy of money and power
As we stand up and rise, we see that common man
A little silent now on the streets
A little unsure, again insecure
Surrendering to life like it has always been
Remove the noise and realize the gift
Life finally has come to offer you
Listen to yourself a bit carefully
The voice in your head can be heard again
As they beg you, To allow them to rule you
You, the common man, can finally choose to rule
